Having worked with more than many new parents during the last 10 years, only a few days after welcoming their newest addition, one of the questions I was most asked while planning for their lifestyle newborn photography at home is:
What if our home is not “photogenic enough” for an at home newborn photo shoot?
My simplest answer is: Whether you live in a small flat, at your parents’, are mid-move, or feel your space is temporary, lifestyle newborn photography focuses on connection & True memories— not perfect interiors.
Your baby’s first home already tells a meaningful story.
Home is the quiet magic of everyday moments —
laughter, love, and memories tucked into every corner.
What matters most is the time!
Those first weeks with a newborn pass quietly and quickly. And if you know a move is coming, it can feel even more important to pause and document where it all began. Many parents looking for newborn photography at their home tell me the same thing:
“We’d love newborn photos,
but
our flat is small,
our home is really cluttered with bigger kids stuff,
we are in the middle a refurbishment,
we are yet to complete our furniture..
Let me gently reassure you — These concerns are especially common for families looking for a lifestyle newborn photos rather than studio sessions — and they’re completely understandable. However none of the above disqualify your home from being beautiful in photographs and I will assure you these photo will only bring back the calm, cuddles and the feeling of those first moments.
Remember your main reason,
WHY are you considering an at home newborn session and not a studio photo shoot?
You want to capture the real moments that unfold naturally in your home — the connection, the quiet in-between, the everyday beauty — and remember them just as they are, now and for years to come.

Stories Shared by Families Like Yours
It’s not the most natural thing to let someone else into your home and show them real life. Yet, Golriz makes it so easy for you. Her warmth, friendly and fun personality makes every person in our house take to her and we all enjoy having her with us.
What does really matter in newborn photos?
Newborn photography is not about décor, It’s about connection.
Your baby resting on your chest.
Tiny hands gripping your finger.
The quiet rhythm of life in those early days.
Years from now, you won’t notice furniture or wall colours. You’ll remember how it felt to bring your baby home — even if that home was small, temporary, or part of a bigger journey.
That first home matters because your family was there.
What do we look for when planning for your lifestyle newborn photography at home?
During your presession consultation, we discuss about different corners of your home, those that hold a special meaning to you, those with a great light and those that could potentially photograph well so our top 3 priorities are:
natural window light
simple, calm corners (a bed, sofa, or chair)
spaces that feel real and lived-in, those that holds meanings
You don’t need to tidy your whole home. I’ll gently guide you to the best light, suggest where to sit, and help everything feel relaxed and natural. Most sessions use just two or three spots — and that’s more than enough.
A few simplest ideas for an in home newborn session are:
The master bedroom, with neutral or softly patterned bedding — a calm, familiar space that naturally draws the focus to connection rather than surroundings.
The sofa, where you snuggle together as a family — perfect for capturing warmth, closeness, and those quiet, real moments.
By a window, where natural light filters in — simple, soft light that beautifully supports newborn photos at home.
Your home does not need to be Instagram-ready,
where your memories happen!
If you’re in an in-between season — loving where you are while knowing it won’t be forever — this can be a beautiful time to capture it.
Your baby won’t remember the size of the space.
But one day, they’ll love seeing where their story began.
And that’s always worth documenting.
How to Prepare a HOME for Your Newborn Photo shoot?
You don’t need to go overboard — a little preparation goes a long way:
we Choose 2-3 corners of your home, together so you already know where needs some attention.
Tidy and declutter those corners as much you like. Keep what you like to be in the photos.
Light hugely matters so we consider where light is at its best
- Relax and trust, but set realistic expectation. We are capturing YOUR MOMENTS, at YOUR HOME and I am there to guide you through each step, following your baby’s flow and your needs every step of the way.
Our goal is to docuement a day/a few hours of a day of your new life, some slightly guided positioned and some completely raw. I am there to witness those moments that are soon to be changed and capture them beautifully for you and your family to treasure in future.
